The city council of Almere invited three investors, including Amvest, to draw up a development plan for the Almere Poort Coastal Zone, an area of 140 hectares alongside the IJmeer near Muiderstrand. The intention is to develop an urban district with 2,600 houses, 100,000 m2 of office space and shops and 95,000 m2 of leisure and hospitality facilities. Amvest took up the challenge with a team of architects, town planners, environmental experts and specialists from the different sectors. They quickly produced a top-rate and distinctive plan, which was submitted to the city council in October 2008. LAgroup's role in the team was to deliver expertise in the area of leisure and hospitality, to help plan the concept for the area, to formulate a programme for leisure and hospitality and to calculate the financial implications. At the beginning of 2009 it was was announced that Amvest had won the competition. For more information about the plan, see http://www.almereduin.nl/.
