How effective are the brochures and websites of the tourism organisations for the Flemish coast? What is the state-of-the-art in publicity materials in general and what can the Flemish coast learn from them?
   
  The Flemish coast is a popular tourist destination. Between 2002 and 2007 the turnover from tourism in the region rose to € 2.6 billion. Despite this success, two tourism organisations in Flanders, Westtoer and Toerisme Vlaanderen, wanted to critically review their performance. This is a good idea, given the growing competition between resorts and the developments in promotion materials and distribution channels. The clients asked LAgroup to evaluate the effectiveness of the existing websites and brochures in publicising the Flemish coast. We then reviewed the state-of-the-art in promotion materials for specific regions in other countries. Having drawn our conclusions, we then made recommendations on how the content and design of the existing promotion materials for the Flemish coast could be improved.
