How can the WERV region and the municipality of Barneveld attract more tourists?
   
  In March 2002, the municipalities of Wageningen, Ede, Rhenen and Veenendaal joined forces to form the regional urban network called the 'WERV region'. In their 'WERV Economic Action Plan', the four municipalities chose tourism and recreation as one of the key areas for boosting economic activity in the region. The neighbouring municipality of Barneveld has joined this tourism venture. LAgroup was asked to write a marketing and promotion plan that combined the core values of the five municipalities with respect to nature (e. g. the Veluwe and Utrechtse Heuvelrug National Parks) and culture (e. g. the Krφller-Mόller Museum, the Liberation Festival and the Rhine Week). We formulated three overarching themes, War & Peace, Nature & Nutrition and Nature & Landscape, and then, together with the tourism and recreation sector, identified promising projects under each of these themes that could give the region a distinctive appeal to tourists.
