| How successful was Experimenta Design Amsterdam 2008 and what improvements could be made? |

ExperimentaDesign is an international Biennale dedicated to design, architecture and contemporary culture. After being held four times in Lisbon, ExperimentaDesign was invited by the City of Amsterdam to branch out to the Dutch capital. ExperimentaDesign Amsterdam 2008 (EXDA) took place from September 18 to November 2 and comprised exhibitions, an urban design route, conferences and open talks. After this first edition, the board of EXDA asked LAgroup to evaluate the event. Based on desk research, interviews with both internal stakeholders and outside experts, a quantitative benchmark with comparable cultural events and our own expertise in festivals and events, concept development, business planning and fundraising, we provided insight into the successes and points of improvement of EXDA. Additionally, we formulated recommendations on how to develop and further improve the event. The board will use the evaluation for the strategic planning of future editions of the design biennale.
